Rainfall in the central urban area of Chengdu has significantly weakened, and the affected roads are gradually being restored for traffic.
Chengdu Meteorological Observatory issued a weather report stating that from 20:00 on July 2nd to 20:00 on July 3rd, Chengdu experienced a severe rainfall weather process, with a total of 94 stations in the city experiencing heavy rain, 134 stations experiencing rainstorms, and 93 stations experiencing moderate rain. The rainfall at People's Park exceeded the historical extreme value for a single station in the central city area. Due to the impact of short-term heavy rainfall, some areas in the central city of Chengdu experienced water accumulation. Relevant units have coordinated to reduce the inflow of Fuhou River, Qingshui River, Jiang'an River and other upstream waters to prevent them from combining with urban runoff. Emergency disposal is being carried out on flooded road sections by drainage teams at all levels. The office of the Chengdu Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters stated that the next step will be to issue rolling alerts and supervise the implementation of various measures for the three-level flood control emergency response.
