The Ministry of Water Resources has initiated a level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Qinghai.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, from July 3 to 5, there will be strong rainfall in the eastern and southern parts of Qinghai Province; as a result, there will be a significant rise in water levels in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in Qinghai, and some small and medium-sized rivers in the rainstorm area may experience floods exceeding warnings. The Ministry of Water Resources has initiated a Level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Qinghai Province as of 12:00 today, requiring local water departments and relevant river basin management agencies to closely monitor changes in rainfall, strengthen emergency monitoring and consultation, enhance monitoring, forecasting, and early warning, scientifically schedule water projects, and carry out flood prevention measures for rivers, reservoirs, and sedimentation dams, as well as defense against floods and debris flow in small and medium-sized rivers, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property. According to the 24-hour rainfall forecast, the Ministry of Water Resources has issued targeted warnings to 10 provinces including Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Hainan, Sichuan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, and Ningxia, reminding them to be prepared for heavy rainfall. Currently, the Ministry of Water Resources is maintaining a Level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Chongqing, Sichuan, and Gansu provinces.
