In a report, Kruger Macro analyst Thomas Mathews said that although US Treasury bonds have been performing strongly recently, it is expected to be challenging for the remainder of the year. "The weeks-long rally in US Treasury bonds seems to have paused," Mathews stated. Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's remarks at a conference in Sintra, Portugal, seem to be one factor contributing to the pause in the rally. Powell stated that as long as the economy remains stable, there is no rush to cut interest rates. He said, "As for us, we doubt whether the Federal Reserve will have the evidence needed for a rate cut before next year, and we doubt whether it will succumb to political pressure." Kruger Macro expects that the Federal Reserve will not cut interest rates before next year.
