Global top 1000 banks list released: China's four largest banks remain the top four.

The Banker, a publication under the Financial Times Group in the UK, released the ranking of the top 1000 global banks in 2025. Chinese banks continue to consolidate their leading position, with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, and Bank of China maintaining their positions as the top four banks globally. Among Chinese banks, China Merchants Bank has shown outstanding performance. Its Tier 1 capital increased by 11.3% annually, the highest growth rate among the top 30 banks, moving up from 10th to 8th place, swapping positions with Wells Fargo Bank in the United States. The three major regions of China, the United States, and Europe collectively occupy 41 seats in the top 50 of The Banker's top 1000 global banks. The top 10 banks globally are as follows: 1.
