The reason was that OpenAI's acquired company was named io, which looked too similar to the AI headphone company iyO and led to a lawsuit. Altman disclosed emails with iyO, revealing that the main reason for OpenAI's acquisition of io was to develop a voice AI Agent for hardware interaction, entering the AI hardware field, and initially considering a partnership with iyO.
