Two new 4K ultra-high definition channels will be added to the TV lineup, and standard definition set-top boxes will be phased out of the market.

According to the working deployment of the State Administration of Radio and Television for the "Ultra HD Development Year", by 2025, the main channels of Ultra HD satellite TV of the Central Radio and Television General Administration and nine provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, and Shenzhen will be launched successively. At the same time, the General Administration of Radio and Television will coordinate the development of Ultra HD, the popularization of HD, and the shutdown of SD work. By 2025, 18 million more cable TV and IPTV Ultra HD set-top boxes will be added, and the total number of Ultra HD terminals nationwide will reach 300 million. In Beijing and Shenzhen, the shutdown of SD channels' signals for cable TV simulcast will be implemented.
