On June 24, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a level-four emergency response for flood control in Chongqing and Guizhou, and dispatched work teams to Guizhou to assist and guide flood control and rescue work in key areas such as Rongjiang and Congjiang in Qiandongnan Prefecture. Due to recent heavy rainfall, the upper reaches of Dujiang River in Guizhou have experienced flooding above the guaranteed water level, posing serious flood control challenges for Rongjiang and Congjiang counties in Qiandongnan Prefecture. According to forecasts, a new round of heavy rainfall is expected in the eastern part of the southwest region starting on the 24th, with heavy to torrential rain expected in parts of northern and western Guizhou and Chongqing. There is a high risk of flooding in rivers, flash floods, geological disasters, and urban and rural waterlogging due to the overlapping of the new rainfall with previous heavy rain.
