Beijing detected 432 instances of alien species in the first five months.

According to Beijing Customs, from January to May this year, 432 different foreign species were intercepted at Beijing ports, a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Most of them were imported for the purpose of selling or keeping exotic pets. Beijing Customs reminds citizens that foreign species that have not undergone quarantine inspection or obtained relevant import procedures are not allowed to enter China. Those engaging in illegal activities will face administrative penalties or criminal responsibility depending on the severity of the circumstances.
