A bridge approach on the Xarong Expressway in Guizhou collapsed due to heavy rainfall, with no casualties reported.
On June 24, 2025, around 7:40 am, the Monkey River Viaduct at K1264 on the Guangxi-Guizhou section of the G76 Xiarong Expressway collapsed due to a mountain landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall. At 5:51 am on June 24, the transportation department found deformation in the bridge structure of the Monkey River Viaduct at K1264 on the uplink of the G76 Xiarong Expressway Grid Line and immediately implemented traffic control on the uplink section. At 7:11 am, traffic control was implemented in both directions. Upon preliminary investigation, at the time of the bridge collapse, there was a truck on the bridge with no casualties reported. There were three vehicles under the bridge, construction vehicles from nearby villages, and drone observation confirmed no personnel inside. Emergency, public security, and transportation departments have urgently arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue operations and develop detour plans. Investigation into the cause of the bridge collapse and subsequent work is still ongoing.
