The Supreme People's Procuratorate Supervision and Investigation Department was officially established.

Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, after research and reporting to the Office of the Central Organization Committee for Approval, has agreed to add the sign of "Prosecution Investigation Department" to the Criminal Executive Procuratorate of the Supreme Procuratorate, officially establishing the Prosecution Investigation Department. The Prosecution Investigation Department of the Supreme Procuratorate is responsible for handling crimes that violate citizens' rights and undermine judicial justice, such as illegal detention, torture for confession, illegal searches committed by judicial personnel who can be investigated by the Supreme Procuratorate according to the law, as well as the investigation of major crimes committed by state personnel using their power which fall under the jurisdiction of the public security organs and need to be directly handled by the Supreme Procuratorate. It also guides local procuratorates at all levels in related work. The official establishment of the Prosecution Investigation Department of the Supreme Procuratorate reflects the Party Central Committee's high regard for upholding judicial justice, its clear attitude towards punishing judicial corruption, and the Supreme Procuratorate's conscious obedience to serving the overall situation of Party and state legal construction, marking a new milestone in the professional development of prosecution investigation. The establishment of this department will be conducive to better coordinating and strengthening the investigation mechanisms, institutions, and specialization construction of prosecution investigation, better assisting in punishing judicial corruption, and upholding judicial justice. As of now, 28 provincial procuratorates and some municipal procuratorates have established specialized prosecution investigation institutions.
