Today, the China Consumers Association issued a call: to oppose food waste and resist extreme eating broadcasts. The China Consumers Association stated that currently, some online platforms are flooded with a large amount of extreme eating broadcast content. These contents challenge human physiological limits by eating large quantities of food, or use rare ingredients such as exotic and super spicy foods to attract attention, which goes against the modern life concepts of health, conservation, and civilization. The China Consumers Association pointed out that some extreme eating broadcast behaviors such as "big eaters" and "spicy eaters" package overeating and challenging limits as "skills" or "entertainment", spreading unhealthy and irrational dietary concepts, especially easily influencing negatively on young people. The China Consumers Association calls on consumers to recognize the nature of harm in extreme eating broadcasts, rationally resist bad content, not support, like, or repost such extreme eating broadcasts that promote waste and harm health, and proactively block related accounts and channels.
