The Baltic Dry Index falls to over a two-week low

The Baltic Dry Index fell to a more than two-week low, dragged down by a decline in Cape-size ship rates. The Baltic Dry Index dropped 15 points, or 0.9%, to 1674 points, the lowest level since June 6. Cape-size ship rates fell 61 points, or about 2.1%, to 2818 points, the lowest level since June 4. Cape-size ship daily earnings decreased by $512 to $23,367. The Panamax ship rate index rose 12 points, or 0.9%, to 1362 points. Panamax ship daily earnings increased by $103 to $12,254. The Supramax bulk carrier rate index rose by 6 points to 979 points.
