Wang Yi meets with former British Prime Minister Blair
On June 23, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with former UK Prime Minister Blair in Beijing. Regarding the conflict between Israel and Iran, Wang Yi stated that inter-state disputes should be resolved through dialogue and consultation for peaceful solution. Israel's preemptive strike against Iran based on "potential future threats", and the US bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, send a wrong signal to the world that disputes should be resolved through force rather than negotiation, setting a dangerous precedent with serious consequences. Peace requires strength to defend, but strength does not necessarily bring real peace. All parties involved in the conflict should take measures to de-escalate and return to the political track of dialogue and negotiation to promote the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East. Blair said that the UK is deeply concerned about the conflict between Israel and Iran, and called for a return to the negotiating track through dialogue and diplomatic means to quickly restore regional peace, security, and stability. The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other issues.
