On the afternoon of June 23, it was reported that recently, the founder of Pang Donglai, Yu Donglai, announced in a live broadcast that they will be closing multiple Pang Donglai stores, including the ones in Life Plaza, Renmin Road, and Wuyi Road. When asked about the reason for closing the stores, Yu Donglai mentioned that the operation of these stores has been good, but because the quality of these old and small stores cannot keep up, they have chosen to gradually close them. Today, a media outlet called the Pang Donglai Life Plaza store, and the staff stated that there had already been plans to relocate or close the store, and the specific time will be announced later, currently the store is operating normally. In speeches in 2023 and 2024, Yu Donglai mentioned multiple times that by the end of 2025, the Life Plaza store will be closed or relocated. Data from the official Pang Donglai website shows that as of June 21, the Life Plaza store had sales exceeding 800 million yuan in 2025, ranking fifth among all stores. As of now, Pang Donglai has a total of 13 stores in Xuchang and Xinxiang, including 5 comprehensive department stores, 7 medium-sized community supermarkets, and 1 professional clothing and shoe store.
