British Airways and Singapore Airlines temporarily suspend flights to the Gulf region.
According to Flightradar24 data, British Airways, headquartered in London, canceled multiple flights to Dubai and diverted two planes to different routes at night. The flight tracking website showed that one plane took off from Heathrow Airport on Saturday night, arrived in Saudi airspace in the early morning, and then diverted to Zurich; another plane bound for Dubai returned to Heathrow Airport after flying to Egypt. Due to operational restrictions and airspace control, the airline also canceled flights to the Qatari capital Doha on Sunday and suspended flights to Bahrain until the end of the month. British Airways stated that it has adjusted flight schedules in response to recent events to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members. Singapore Airlines announced on Sunday the cancellation of two flights between Singapore and Dubai, warning in a statement that, "due to the situation still evolving," other flights between Southeast Asian countries and the UAE may be affected. Following Israel's bombing of Iran last week, several American and European airlines have suspended flights to the UAE and Qatar. These measures highlight growing concerns in the Middle East region, which is usually seen as safe and insulated from regional turmoil.
