Apple discusses acquiring Perplexity

Apple executives are internally discussing the acquisition of Perplexity AI, and if an agreement is reached, it will help Apple develop an AI-based search engine. Apple also has a backup plan - if the acquisition cannot be completed, they will "team up" and make Perplexity an option for Apple Safari's search engine. Previously, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta abandoned negotiations to acquire Perplexity and instead invested in Scale AI.
