This week, the S&P 500 index fell by approximately 0.2%, while the Dow and Nasdaq remained roughly unchanged. The Nasdaq 100 index fell by about 0.2%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose by about 1.8% and the Bank Index rose by about 3.4%. The Biotechnology Index fell by about 1.5%, and the Russell 2000 Index rose by about 0.4%. The seven giants of the US technology stocks index remained roughly unchanged, while the "Trump Tariff Losers Index" rose by about 0.2%.
On Friday, the S&P 500 index closed down 0.2%, with the telecommunications sector falling by 2.1%, and the raw materials and technology sectors falling by up to 0.6% while the energy sector rose by about 1.3%. The Nasdaq 100 index closed down by about 0.5%, with AppLovin falling by 6%, Grail by 4.6%, Google A by 4.5%, and KLA, Applied Materials, and Meta falling by more than 2%. On the other hand, Amphenol, AMD, Micron Technology, and Intel rose by up to 1.7%, while PayPal rose by 2.2%, Charter Communications and Apple rose by 2.4%, and Mondelez International rose by 3.1%. Walmart, Goldman Sachs, and Home Depot rose by over 1%, with Apple leading the Dow components, Nvidia falling by 1.1%, Amazon falling by about 1.2%, and UnitedHealth falling by 1.4%.
