Since the beginning of last year, the monkeypox epidemic has resulted in the deaths of over 1800 people in Africa.

The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a statement on the 19th stating that since early 2024, Africa has reported over 40,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox, with over 1,800 deaths.
