According to the latest guidelines from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), GLP-1 and other Nutrient Stimulated Hormones (NuSH) should be used to aid in weight loss before making lifestyle changes to prevent heart disease. Canadian Montreal Bank (BMO) analyst Evan Seigerman states that the new recommendations may signify a "paradigm shift in the way that doctors think about treating obesity and preventing heart disease." The analyst states that the ACC emphasizes their "new stance that patients should not be required to undergo lifestyle intervention before receiving NuSH therapy." He writes, "This shift in recommendation may open the doors for a wider coverage of these drugs without the need for gradual lifestyle changes." He suggests that this could lead to "increased pressure on future insurance plans."
