Ctrip price adjustment assistant accused of forcing price adjustments, customer service responds.
Recently, the controversy over Ctrip's "price adjustment assistant" disrupting market pricing and disrupting hotel operations has sparked discussion. Some hotel merchants have reported that the function automatically scans competitor platform prices through the backend system, forcing and lowering the hotel room prices. They said that the platform's price chasing has become a "one-way hostage situation," as even though they clearly applied to cancel the function, it quietly came back online. On the afternoon of June 20th, a reporter called the Ctrip hotline as a hotel manager. Customer service said that price adjustments are necessary to compare prices and avoid customer loss. Why is the process of merchants choosing to disable the "price adjustment assistant" seemingly futile? The aforementioned customer service admitted that if the system detects prices lower on other platforms than on Ctrip, it will automatically follow the price due to contract requirements for consistent pricing.
