China Consumers Association Annual Report: Urgent need to strengthen consumer protection in financial services; Continuous regulation of non-standard business practices in telecommunications services
The China Consumers Association released the "Annual Report on the Protection of Consumer Rights in China" in Beijing. The annual report points out that the current consumer rights protection work in China still faces four prominent issues. Firstly, the legal environment in the consumption field needs to be further optimized. The institutional supply for consumer rights protection needs to be strengthened, judicial protection mechanisms need to be improved, and law enforcement mechanisms need to be continuously optimized. Secondly, governance of new types of consumer rights violations needs to be further enhanced. New issues of consumer rights violations have emerged in online consumption, attention needs to be given to consumer rights violations in the green consumption field, and regulation of infringements by professional closers needs to be strengthened. Thirdly, consumer rights violations in the field of people's livelihood remain prominent. Greater efforts are needed to protect consumers in financial services, continuous governance of irregular operations in telecommunications services, prominent issues of false advertising in clothing and accessories, continued prominence of service quality issues in the tourism industry, and further regulation is needed in the medical beauty industry. Fourthly, continuous follow-up governance is needed for key consumer rights violations involving the elderly and children. Fraudulent practices in the healthcare consumption field by the elderly are particularly prominent, further improvements are needed in elderly insurance consumption, irrational consumption issues such as minors being addicted to the internet need urgent attention, and prominent issues exist in information security and induced consumption related to children's smartwatches.
