Tsinghua University responds to "female professor killed by falling tree": internal accountability procedures have been initiated.

On June 20th, Tsinghua University responded to the incident of a female professor being killed by a falling tree: At around 17:00 on June 15th, a tree removal operation was being illegally conducted by an outside company providing landscaping and maintenance services near the welding pavilion on campus. A tree fell and hit a family member of a passerby on campus. The injured person was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, but unfortunately passed away despite all efforts to save her. The school is deeply saddened by the occurrence of this accident and expressed sincere apologies and condolences to the family of the deceased immediately, and is making every effort to handle the aftermath of the incident. Currently, government departments are conducting an investigation into the accident, and the school has set up a special working group to cooperate with the relevant departments in the investigation and resolution of the incident, as well as initiating a campus accountability process. In addition, a comprehensive inspection of campus safety hazards is being conducted to further strengthen safety management and ensure campus security.
