Research from the Chinese University of Hong Kong: Mainland Chinese visitors do not put pressure on local Hong Kong consumption preferences differ between the two regions.
According to the Zhitong Finance and Economics APP, the Economics Department of the Faculty of Social Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong recently held a research results release conference on "Hong Kong residents' consumption in the north: scale, destination, and consumption characteristics", aiming to analyze in depth the consumption behavior of Hong Kong citizens in mainland China and its impact on local consumption. Since the pandemic situation has stabilized, Hong Kong residents' consumption in the north has become a normal practice. Through analyzing data models from the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department and AlipayHK, the study found that Hong Kong residents' consumption in mainland China did not squeeze local consumption in Hong Kong.
