SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son is actively seeking to collaborate with TSMC in order to realize his largest bet to date - establishing a trillion-dollar industrial park in Arizona to produce robots and artificial intelligence. Insiders familiar with Son's ideas revealed that he envisions creating a massive manufacturing center similar to Shenzhen, China, to bring high-tech manufacturing back to the United States. They say the park may include production lines for industrial robots and artificial intelligence, but since the plan is still under wraps, they requested anonymity. SoftBank officials are eager to involve the Taiwanese manufacturer of advanced AI chips for NVIDIA in the project, though it's unclear what Son's expectations are from TSMC. TSMC has already planned to invest $16.5 billion in the United States and has started mass production at its first factory in Arizona. It's also uncertain whether TSMC would be interested. Someone familiar with TSMC's thoughts said SoftBank's project is unrelated to TSMC's plans in Phoenix.
