The Ministry of Water Resources held a flood prevention meeting this morning, releasing the latest information on rainfall, water levels, and flood situation, and deploying the next steps of defense work. Due to the joint influence of cold and warm air, the Yangtze River and Huai River basins are experiencing the strongest rainfall since the start of the flood season. This heavy rainfall process has a wide coverage, high intensity of rainfall, and a high risk of flood and waterlogging disasters. On June 19th, 14 rivers across the country experienced floods exceeding the warning level, with the Li River in Hunan province exceeding the warning level along its entire length, and the upper and middle reaches seeing the largest flood since 1998. At present, the water level in the upper and middle reaches of the Li River has dropped below the alert level.
