The Eurogroup approves Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone.

On June 19 local time, the Eurogroup approved a proposal supporting Bulgaria to officially adopt the euro from January 1, 2026. This is an important step for Bulgaria towards using the euro as its official currency. The proposal is expected to be approved by the Eurogroup members with a qualified majority on the 20th in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council of the European Union. Subsequently, the European Council will further discuss this issue at the EU summit on June 26-27. After obtaining consultation opinions from the European Parliament and the European Central Bank, the European Council will pass three related laws to formally complete the legal process of Bulgaria's introduction of the euro.
