US Secretary of the Treasury's first talk about the conflict with Musk: Denies physical conflict with the other party, insisting that the two have "different styles of doing things"
Although there were rumors of intense disputes and even physical conflicts between the two parties, U.S. Treasury Secretary Benson recently downplayed his differences with Musk in public, insisting that they just have different "working styles." On June 18, local time, Benson appeared on the podcast "Pod Force One" hosted by Miranda, a columnist for the New York Post, and publicly talked about his conflict with Musk for the first time. Benson vividly described the differences between them using a metaphor: "The operating mode in Silicon Valley is fast action, breaking conventions. In the Treasury Department, our style is cautious action to solve problems. I think Musk may be more like a Viking, while I am more like a ninja - a bit like a submarine surfacing, firing, and then submerging."
During the podcast on the 18th, although Benson did not directly admit to a conflict with Musk, he stated, "We do have differences, but our goals are the same - to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in the government. Everyone is committed to working for President Trump and the American people." When asked if he called Musk a "total fraud," he firmly denied it, saying, "I absolutely did not say that." It is worth noting that in this podcast interview, Benson acknowledged the work of the "Government Efficiency Department" and emphasized that the U.S. government will continue Musk's mission in that department. He said, "The 'Government Efficiency Department' represents a spirit, even though Musk has left, that spirit still exists, and over time, the work he initiated will bring increasingly significant results."
