The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology continues to strengthen the protection of personal information of minors.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the "Minors' Personal Information Protection Initiative" was recently released to further promote the "Child Protection Plan" and safeguard the healthy growth of minors. The initiative proposes strengthening industry self-discipline, implementing protection responsibilities, promoting enterprises to strictly fulfill the obligation of protecting minors' personal information, conducting regular self-assessments, and accepting social supervision. It also calls for enhancing technical protection, building a protection network, developing a minors' mode with functions such as one-click activation and anti-circumvention, improving the review mechanism for applications related to minors, and strengthening coordinated protection among terminal devices, applications, and distribution platforms. Furthermore, it suggests optimizing service supply, improving the protection system, actively developing specialized products and services that cater to the physical and mental characteristics of minors, explicitly stating rules for handling minors' personal information in a significant way, and providing channels for minors to access, correct, delete, and respond to their personal information rights.
