The Bank of England today kept interest rates unchanged as scheduled. The bank said that in the face of continuously rising energy prices, it will closely monitor a "highly unpredictable" world. There were six members who voted to keep the interest rate unchanged and three members who favored a rate cut in the decision. The Monetary Policy Committee stated that lowering borrowing costs in a "gradual and cautious manner" remains the right course of action. Bank of England Governor Bailey said, "Although we are keeping interest rates unchanged today, rates are still on a gradual downward path."
