On June 19, the Advocate General of the European Court of Justice, Juliane Kokott, issued an opinion recommending the Court to reject Google's appeal in the antitrust case, thereby upholding the ruling of the General Court of the European Union. The case dates back to 2018 when the European Commission imposed a 4.34 billion fine on Google for abusing its dominant position in the internet search market to impose illegal restrictions on Android device manufacturers and mobile operators. Google subsequently appealed the decision. In 2022, the General Court of the European Union ruled that Google had abused its dominant position in the mobile search market but reduced the fine to 4.125 billion. Google then appealed to the European Court of Justice.
