On June 19th, local time, Juliane Kokott, the Advocate General of the European Court of Justice, issued an opinion on the Google antitrust case, recommending that the court reject Google's appeal and thus uphold the judgment of the EU General Court. The case began in 2018 when the European Commission announced a fine of 4.34 billion euros against Google for abusing its dominant position in the internet search market by imposing illegal restrictions on Android device manufacturers and mobile operators. Google subsequently appealed this decision. In 2022, the EU General Court ruled that Google had abused its dominant position in the mobile search market but reduced the fine to 4.125 billion euros. Google then appealed to the European Court of Justice.
