The State Administration for Market Regulation announces the ninth batch of typical cases of administrative penalties for preventing food waste.
The Market Supervision Administration of Haidian District, Beijing Municipality has investigated and dealt with the case of Beijing Yidie Xiang Catering Management Co., Ltd. inducing consumers to order excessive amounts of food: On April 9, 2025, the Market Supervision Administration of Haidian District, Beijing Municipality found during routine inspections that Beijing Yidie Xiang Catering Management Co., Ltd., operating "Qingfeng Baozi Shop" on a food delivery platform, had set a minimum purchase price of 25 yuan for self-pickup orders. Consumers had to spend this amount before they could place an order for self-pickup, causing some consumers to be unable to purchase according to their actual needs, leading to excessive ordering and obvious waste. The actions of the parties involved violated Article 7, paragraph 2 of the Anti-Food Waste Law of the People's Republic of China. In accordance with Article 33, paragraph 1 of the Administrative Penalty Law of the People's Republic of China, the Market Supervision Administration of Haidian District decided not to impose administrative penalties on the parties involved. However, in accordance with Article 33, paragraph 3 of the Administrative Penalty Law of the People's Republic of China, the parties involved were educated and were not allowed to set minimum purchase prices for self-pickup orders on food delivery platforms.
