Ministry of Commerce: Promote the Quality Upgrading of China-Central Asia Trade Cooperation, Deepen the Integration Development of Production and Supply Chains
Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong announced that on June 17, 2025, the second China-Central Asia Summit was successfully held in Astana, Kazakhstan. President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Central Asian countries outlined the blueprint for China-Central Asia relations, pointing the direction for economic and trade cooperation between China and Central Asia. After multiple rounds of negotiations, during the summit, the Ministry of Commerce signed three documents with leading departments of Central Asian countries to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, deepen trade facilitation cooperation, and enhance green mineral cooperation. Additionally, the Ministry signed five bilateral documents in areas of economic and trade, investment, e-commerce, and economic and technical cooperation with relevant countries. In the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will promote the quality improvement of trade cooperation, actively expand imports of energy, minerals, and high-quality agricultural products from Central Asian countries, and promote the export of products such as automobiles, household appliances, communication equipment, and textiles. They will also cultivate new trade formats such as service trade and cross-border e-commerce, deepen the integration of production supply chains, and develop the entire industry chain of green mineral exploration, production, supply, and utilization. Furthermore, they will explore cooperation in emerging fields such as electric vehicles, biopharmaceuticals, new energy, and digital economy. The Ministry will also increase the operation of China-Europe freight trains to Central Asian countries and enhance the handling capacity of border ports.
