Beijing opens trillion-level low-orbit economy "space gateway"

Looking into space, the low orbit between 400 kilometers to 2000 kilometers from the Earth has become a key area for global commercial space development and competition, due to its natural protection from the Earth's magnetic field, lower risk of radiation damage, and ultra-low latency communication. It is also expected to form a trillion-level "low orbit economy". Rockets are indeed the "space gateway" for the low orbit economy. Yesterday, the "Vibrant China Research Trip" theme interview activity went to the "Rocket Street" located in the southeast of Beijing, decoding commercial space in Beijing. It was learned that several reusable rockets born in Beijing will have their first flight this year, leading to a significant reduction in launch costs for Chinese private rockets. Officials from the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Management Committee introduced that Beijing Commercial Rocket Company has set new records in rocket launches, satellite development, measurement and control, and data applications. In particular, disposable rockets will enter the normal launch stage, with Beijing's commercial rockets launching a total of 12 times in 2024, accounting for about one-fifth of the current national launch missions. Last year, among every five rockets launched in China, one was a commercial rocket from Beijing.
