Brazil announces the end of the current outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture announced on the 18th that the current outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Brazil has ended, and relevant information has been reported to the World Organization for Animal Health. On May 16th, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture announced that a commercial poultry farm in the southern part of the country had detected cases of poultry infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza. This is the first time Brazil has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza on a commercial poultry farm. Subsequently, the relevant authorities initiated an emergency response plan, quarantined the affected area, culled the remaining poultry, and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the area. The latest announcement states that after completing the necessary cleaning and disinfection work, Brazil entered a 28-day period of health isolation starting from May 22. By the end of the isolation period, Brazil had not reported any new cases and had completed all necessary preventive measures, returning to a state free from the outbreak.
