Zhitong Finance APP learned that Morgan Stanley (MS.US) is closing a department dedicated to electronic market making for US stock options, exiting the increasingly popular derivatives market among retail investors, despite a significant increase in trading volume. According to two sources familiar with the matter, the business known internally as "automatic market making" is set to close. The sources revealed that Morgan Stanley is planning to transfer some employees from this department to other positions within the company.
