Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu leads a delegation to the UK to attend the first China-UK Climate Ministers' Dialogue and Ministry of Environment.
On June 16th local time, Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu met with the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Emission Alok Sharma in London to attend the first China-UK Climate Ministers Dialogue, and also met with UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs George Eustice to attend the first China-UK Environment Ministers Dialogue.
During the China-UK Climate Ministers Dialogue held in the morning, the two sides had in-depth discussions on topics such as climate governance multilateral processes, respective climate change policies, and future climate cooperation. After the meeting, Huang Runqiu and Alok Sharma signed a memorandum of understanding on climate change cooperation between China and the UK. Both sides agreed to deepen exchanges through the Ministerial level dialogue mechanism on climate change, strengthen dialogue and cooperation in areas such as adaptation to climate change, carbon market construction, climate investment and financing, and methane emission control, and jointly promote the multilateral climate governance process.
During the China-UK Environment Ministers Dialogue held in the afternoon, the two sides had in-depth discussions on topics such as the latest progress in environmental pollution prevention and control, international negotiations on plastic pollution treaties, and biodiversity conservation.
