Before the United States imposed additional tariffs, Thailand's exports saw their biggest increase in three years.
Thailand's exports have surged to their highest level since the beginning of 2022 as businesses stockpile goods while tariffs planned by the Trump administration remain shelved. Thai Commerce Minister Praisai told reporters in Bangkok on Wednesday that exports in May grew by 18.4% to a record $31 billion. This marks the largest export growth since March 2022 and the fifth consecutive month of double-digit growth. Thai Commerce Department data shows that imports also increased by 18% to $29.9 billion last month, resulting in a trade surplus of $1.1 billion.
