President Trump on Tuesday rejected the assessment of U.S. National Intelligence Director Coats that Iran has not been building nuclear weapons, marking the first public disagreement with his intelligence chief since his second term began. Trump dismissed the judgment of his top spy, seemingly siding with Netanyahu's reason for launching airstrikes on Iran's nuclear and military targets last week, saying he believed Tehran is soon to possess nuclear warheads. On Air Force One returning early from the G7 summit in Canada to Washington, Trump was asked how close he thought Iran was to having nuclear weapons. "Very close," he replied. When told Coats testified before Congress in March that the U.S. intelligence community still believes Tehran is not developing nuclear warheads, Trump said, "I don't care what she said. I think they will have one soon."
