Continuous heavy rainfall led to severe floods and waterlogging in many areas of Guangdong, exceeding the warning levels.
Due to the influence of the high-altitude trough and the southwest monsoon, on the 17th, Shaoguan City in Guangdong experienced heavy to torrential rainfall during the day. The Shaoguan Meteorological Bureau reported that from 8:00 to 13:00 on June 17, Xin Feng, Wengyuan, Qujiang, Zhenjiang, Wujian, Renhua, and Shixing in the south saw rainfall of 50 to 90 millimeters, locally reaching 100 to 123 millimeters. The average rainfall in the city was 33.3 millimeters, with 7 monitoring stations recording over 100 millimeters of precipitation, and 111 monitoring stations recording 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. The highest rainfall was recorded at 123.2 millimeters in Huangli Cherry Blossom Gorge Meteorological Observatory in Xinfeng. Currently, classes have been suspended in Xinfeng and Wengyuan. The continuous rainfall has caused flooding in several sections of Shaoguan city, with trees falling down.
