The South Korean Egg Producers Association is being investigated for alleged price monopoly.
On the 16th, the Korean Egg Producers Industry Association was subjected to an on-site investigation by the country's antitrust authority for allegedly leading to higher egg prices. The investigation was prompted by the association's suspected forcing of member companies to sell eggs at the guidance prices it issued, resulting in inflated market prices. The farm delivery price of a single egg published by the association has risen by about 30% since March. The current price is 6% higher than the same period last year, and 4.2% higher than the seasonal average.
