Germany is discussing the creation of a national strategic natural gas reserve.
Sources revealed that Germany is considering whether to create a strategic natural gas reserve, which would be a smaller version of the emergency oil reserves in the United States. It is reported that the German Ministry of Economics has commissioned experts to study the feasibility of national gas storage. Most natural gas facilities in Germany are operated by private companies, but due to poor economic efficiency, they are currently facing difficulties in replenishing supplies. The operators of these facilities have threatened to close those that are not profitable. Given that many industrial sectors in Germany rely on natural gas to operate, government officials are considering establishing a state-owned reserve.
