According to reports from media such as Global Times citing Russia Today and Associated Press, on June 16th local time, US President Trump stated at the opening ceremony of the Group of Seven summit that excluding Russia from the Group of Eight was a mistake. He said, "Because I believe if Russia had still been in the group at that time, there would be no war now. If Trump had still been president four years ago, there would be no war now either." Additionally, when asked whether China should also join the G7, Trump responded, "That's not a bad idea. If someone wants China to join, I don't oppose it."
