The United Nations General Assembly voted on a resolution on the 16th to declare December 4th of each year as "International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures". The resolution was passed with 116 votes in favor, 51 against, and 6 abstentions. The resolution points out that unilateral coercive measures and related legislation violate international law and the United Nations Charter, and contradict the norms and principles that guide peaceful relations between countries. The resolution urges all countries to refrain from adopting, enacting, or implementing any unilateral economic, financial, or trade measures that are inconsistent with international law and the United Nations Charter, and that obstruct or harm the comprehensive economic and social development of all countries, particularly developing countries.
