Stamper will meet with Trump, both sides are committed to finalizing the UK-US trade agreement.
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Stamer on Monday is aimed at pushing for the finalization of a trade agreement between the two countries. This will be the first such agreement reached by the US with a trading partner since the White House announced a series of punitive tariffs on several countries worldwide. Although the framework of the agreement was announced by the leaders of both countries last month, further negotiations are still needed to finalize the specific details and no measures have been implemented yet. According to the preliminary terms, the US has agreed to reduce tariffs on cars imported from the UK from 27.5% to 10%, applicable to the first 100,000 cars per year, and to reduce its tariffs on UK steel from 25% to zero. In exchange, the UK has promised to increase zero-tariff quotas for American beef and ethanol.
