Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saied Iravani, accused the United States of "conspiring" with Israel to attack Iran at the United Nations Security Council on the 13th. The U.S. denied this and warned Iran that "wise action" would be to engage in negotiations regarding its nuclear program. Iravani criticized Israel's attacks on Iran that same day, stating that they were an attempt to "suffocate diplomacy, undermine negotiations, and drag the region into a broader conflict", and claimed that the U.S.'s complicity was "undeniable". U.S. State Department official McCoy Pitt said at the Security Council that although the U.S. had prior knowledge of Israel's first round of attacks on Iran, they did not participate in the military operation. He said that the U.S. will continue to strive to resolve issues through diplomatic means, ensuring that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons and threatens stability in the Middle East. "The wise choice for the Iranian leadership at this moment is negotiation".
