Henan province has held 210 party members and officials accountable for illegally digging lakes for landscaping and damaging the Zhao Great Wall site.

From November 22, 2023 to December 22, 2023, the Central Second Ecological Environment Protection Inspection Team conducted the third round of ecological environment protection inspection in Henan Province, and feedbacked the inspection situation to Henan Province on February 27, 2024, at the same time transferred 5 cases of ecological environment damage responsibility for investigation, and requested to organize accountability in accordance with regulations, discipline and law. The Henan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government established a leading group for the work of transferring ecological environment damage responsibility for investigation and accountability, with the main leaders of the Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervision Commission as the leaders, to carry out accountability investigation in accordance with regulations, discipline and law on the 5 cases of transferred ecological environment damage responsibility. According to the facts, in accordance with the "Regulations on Accountability of the Communist Party of China" and other regulations, 16 responsible units and 210 party members were seriously held accountable. Among the 210 party members, 97 were given disciplinary and administrative sanctions, 43 were given warnings, and 70 were held accountable in other ways; among them, 9 were at the department level, 71 were at the county division level, 110 were at the township level and below, and 20 were from state-owned enterprises and other personnel, all of whom have been held accountable.
