The Ministry of Water Resources has launched a Level IV emergency response for flood defense in Zhejiang.
The first typhoon of this year, "Butterfly," made landfall on the coastal areas of Dongfang City, Hainan Province around 23:00 on June 13, and its center was located about 70 kilometers off the coast of Leizhou, Guangdong at 11:00 on June 14, moving northeast at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour. Due to the influence of the peripheral circulation of Typhoon "Butterfly," Zhejiang will experience moderate to heavy rain from June 14 to 15, with the northern and western parts experiencing heavy rain to heavy downpours. The Qiantang River, Jiaojiang River, Ou River, Taihu Lake and their surrounding river networks in Zhejiang will experience significant rise in water levels, with the possibility of some small and medium rivers within the heavy rain areas experiencing flood levels above warning levels. In accordance with the "Regulations on Emergency Response for Flood Control by the Ministry of Water Resources," the Ministry of Water Resources initiated a Level IV flood control emergency response for Zhejiang Province at 11:00 on June 14.
