United Nations official: Congo anti-government armed groups are willing to resolve the crisis through peaceful means.
A senior United Nations official said on the 13th in Goma, the capital of North Kivu province in eastern Congo, that the leader of the Congolese anti-government militia group "M23 Movement" is willing to resolve the current crisis in the country's east through peaceful means. The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for the Congo, Kata, met with the leaders of the "M23 Movement" and its political-military alliance, the "Congo River Alliance," in Goma on the same day. Kata then stated at a press conference that both sides expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue and seek peaceful solutions.
