The Israeli Ministry of Energy has ordered the temporary closure of the country's largest natural gas field, Leviathan. This came after Israel launched attacks on Iran, which has promised to retaliate. Amid rapidly escalating geopolitical tensions, the Israeli Ministry of Energy has requested Energean Plc to halt natural gas production. It is understood that the disruption in production at the gas field may affect regional supply, particularly for Egypt, where demand for natural gas is on the rise due to high summer temperatures. If Israel's natural gas supply is constrained in the long term, it may force Egypt to purchase liquefied natural gas, further tightening the global market. European natural gas prices rose by 6.6% at one point.
